DIY: Bowholder

After many attempts to organize my sister's grand collection of bows, I made this and it seems to be the best solution yet. Everything is within sight, easy to get, and very cute, not to mention extremely affordable.
All you need is an old picture frame (or a new one; I got mine at the dollar tree and just removed the random stuff inside, obviously), ribbon, glue, paint, and little hooks (These aren't necessary for the bowholder as they don't hold any bows, but it's a great place to store hair ties and headbands or even jewelry).

First, you paint the frame whatever color you want. I made this one purple to match my sister's room. Also, because I didn't have the specific shade I wanted, I ended up mixing two paints together which worked out perfectly. You can see I had fun making designs with the paints, as well. Because it was a black frame, it took a few coats to make it a smooth purple color, and if you were going for an even lighter color, I would suggest giving it one or two coasts of white first to make sure your color will show up nice and bright.

A Heart! ♥

The hooks I used were just part of a nail kit from the hardware store which I found in our shed and just decided to use. Because they were gold which didn't really match the color scheme of my sister's room, I painted them with some purple nail polish. And I did have to coat the hooks with a layer of white nail polish first for the purple to show up well without using too much product.

Finally, I just arranged everything and glued it together with my hot glue gun.

And...Voila! Now you can just hang your bows up and not be looking through drawers and drawers for one! I really love how it turned out and I'm so happy to have them all displayed in front of me so I don't have to go running around the house looking for one to match an outfit. Btw, I just hung this up with two tumbtacks and that seems to hold it very well.

P.S. I had to add another column because my sister had too many bows and they just were too squished before. She also has a whole collection of bigger bows, kindof like the ones on the left-most column, and I'm wondering if I should make a whole bowholder for that or if i should leave them in the drawers because we don't use them that much anyway...
